2024 Western Georgia Jurisdiction Theme - Together We Rise to the Challenge
The Western Georgia Jurisdiction Women's Department (WOW) is committed to world evangelism-Better Homes-Better Communities and a Better World. As always, we desire to reach out especially to every female with love and the Word of God for Salvation, Healing, and wholeness.
As Women in most churches are the largest group. Our objective is to bring help and life through training all women to effectively assist their Pastor, Pastor's wife and other leaders appointed by the Pastor for the growth of their church and the Kingdom of God.
It is essential that proper training, motivation, and inspiration be given to enhance outreach programs for men, women, children, as well as families.
Many women feel a calling in their life but need proper training and credentials when necessary. Aspiring Missionaries, Deaconess Missionaries, Evangelist Missionaries, and District Missionaries are trained to perform specialized services in the Local, District, State, and National Churches.
Approximately 50 auxiliaries and units in the Women's Department can be identified and used as needed for a local church. The local and jurisdictional women's department can make an impact around their community and the world in an organized manner with its support and resources for women worldwide.
Issues like human trafficking, abuse, and literacy impact our children and church; therefore, we must address these problems.
Prayer is the key to change; we must teach our young women the importance of a prayer life (Jeremiah 9:20) that will change people, stamina, and the church that Our community desperately needs.
The Women's Department supports the Bishop's Vision, Women in their District, and Local Church. We are committed and grateful to God for using Women to further the cause and Kingdom of God.
Mother Perrella Hines is the Supervisor of Women for the Western Georgia Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ.
She is a native of Marietta, Georgia. She was one of the first African Americans to integrate F.T. Wills High School in Smyrna, Georgia. She graduated from the Atlanta College of Medical and Dental Assistants. After training at Kennesaw State University, she became a Headstart and homebound teacher for the Economic Opportunity Atlanta program. Many of her techniques for serving special needs children were incorporated into the dissertation for educating graduate students. As a result of this work, she was honored as Pre-School Teacher of the Year in 1984.
She was raised in Avery Street COGIC where her mom, the late Mother Mary Emma Bohannon served as the organist under the leadership of Bishop James J. Hinsley. Mother Bohannon served in the national church as the secretary for the International Music Department under the late Mother Mattie Moss Clark.
Mother Hines accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at the age of 15. As a youth, she served in the Sunshine Band, YPWW, and the Youth Choir. Avery Street COGIC became Hinsley Chapel COGIC in 1974. Her greatest success in her early ministry was teaching a Sunday School class that had over 100 faithful members; many of whom came to Christ during class. She learned to be a prayer warrior under the tutorage and mentorship of Mother Tommie Young. They began a Saturday Prayer Service in which many people were saved and healed.
She married Elder Arenza Hines, the Pastor of Community Outreach Church of God in Christ in Hiram, Georgia. First Lady Hines served in the local church by her husband’s side for many years as Prayer leader, Sunday School teacher, Women’s Department mentor, and Social Services Outreach coordinator.
She became Supervisor of Women for the Western Georgia Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction in 2005 serving with Bishop Henderson Spivey. Prior to this, she served as District Missionary of the Marietta District and Choir Director for the Central Georgia Jurisdictional Choir. She has proclaimed the gospel of Jesus Christ in prisons in Georgia and Louisiana, in street ministries, and at numerous churches throughout this country as a traveling evangelist who loves prayer.
Supervisor Hines has received many awards and recognitions for her service in ministry. Prior to her husband’s transition to his eternal heavenly home on January 2018, he made it clear she was fully equipped to carry on as leader. Since that time she has faithfully served as the pastor of Community Outreach COGIC. Her greatest reward has been witnessing the lives that have been changed and souls saved by the Power of Jesus Christ. The most important thing for others to know about Supervisor Hines is, “She Loves God and God’s People!”
Supervisor Hines’ benediction mantra:
We walk out of these doors in Victory,
Knowing that God is the devil’s boss and
We are God’s Children!
So, we say Amen, Amen, Amen,
It Is So, In the Mighty Name of Jesus!
